保護者の皆様へ

First Steps Montessori English Schoolにご関心をお寄せいただき誠にありがとうございます。
スクールを代表し、心より皆さまにお礼を申し上げます。

私のプロフィールでもお話ししておりますが、このスクールを設立する前に日本で１２年間教職に携わって参りました。
その経験を通じて、日本の子どもたちが育つ環境や、直面する共通の課題、そして彼らの特性を深く理解することができました。そうした経験から、子どもたちが成長の初期段階において、その可能性を最大限に伸ばせる幼稚園を作りたい！と強く思うようになりました。

子どもたちにとって、自然に周囲の環境を吸収し、学ぶことができる大切な時期は、生まれてから６歳頃までと言われています。この時期に感覚的・実践的・知識的な活動、そして算数や読み書きなどの学びを通して、子どもたちの可能性を十分に引き出せる環境を整えてあげたいと考えています。
また、言語学習に関しても多くの可能性が失われていると感じました。
言語の習得は学問的な勉強とは異なります。
研究によると、大人の脳はルールに基づく学習を得意とするのに対し、子どもの脳は音や文法構造、ボキャブラリーを自然に吸収する力が非常に高いことがわかっています。

そこで、英語をネイティブスピーカーの教師だけが教えるというスタイルにこだわりました。
これにより、英語の発音が良くなるだけではなく、子どもたちが教師の真似をしながら自然に英語のルールを理解する力も身につきます。また、教育方針については様々な方法を検討した結果、私の考え方に最も合うモンテッソーリ教育法を採用することに決めました。スタッフや素晴らしい保護者の皆さまのご協力のもと、スクールは着実に成長を続けています。

多くの卒園生がその後の人生で活躍している姿を見て、私たちの取り組みが確かな基盤を築いていると自信を持っています。

これからもお子さま一人ひとりにとって、最良の成長の旅となるよう、ご家族の皆さまと共に歩んでまいりたいと考えております。

Message from the Principal

Dear parents

Thank you for taking an interest in First Steps Montessori English School.
On behalf of our school, I would like to welcome you all! 

As I have mentioned in my profile, before establishing this school I had been teaching in Japan for 12 years. This experience has helped me obtain a deeper understanding of the environment in which Japanese children are brought up in, the common struggles many Japanese children face and their unique characteristics. Upon my experience, I wanted to establish a kindergarten where children can reach their full potential in all aspects of their primal time in their development. Any modern important time for a person to naturally absorb everything in their surrounding. With studies on early childhood development show that from birth up to six years old is the this in mind, I have decided to facilitate an environment where we can fully develop the potential through providing sensorial, practical and cognitive activities as well academic learning such as math, reading and writing.
I also felt that a lot of the potentials had been lost when it comes to learning a language. I believe that learning a language cannot be applied in the same method as academic studies. Research shows unlike adults who are reliant on rule-based learning, children’s brain are highly receptive to absorbing sounds, sentence structure and vocabulary.
This is how I decided to place an importance to having children being taught solely by native English speakers.  Not only will this positively affect their English pronunciation, but they will also possess the ability to work out the rules of English by imitating their influencers (teachers).  After thorough research on pedagogical methods, I decided on applying the Montessori method, as it matched with my ideologies.

With the help of our staff and our wonderful parents, the school has been growing since and I am confident we have established a great foundation for our children, as we have seen so many of our graduates succeed after kindergarten. I look forward to working with you and your family in providing the best possible journey for every child.
